Gary has been practising in Western Australia for more than 20 years and specialises in commercial property, leasing and conveyancing. He is also admitted to practice in England and Wales as well as several states of Australia. Prior to joining Tottle Partners in 2001, he had been a partner in two major Australian law firms.
Gary has acted for a wide range of clients including banks, insurance companies, property trusts, private developers, property investors and government. He has particular experience in the sale and purchase of major commercial properties (including shopping centres and office buildings), property development projects (including site acquisition, planning aspects, easements and related dealings in land), preparation of master leases and advising on all aspects of commercial and retail leasing (including advice relating to the Commercial Tenancy (Retail Shops) Amendments Act and GST, property mortgages, commercial contracts and duty).
Gary has been a seminar leader at the University of Western Australia in the final year Commercial Practice course and has presented lectures in the same course on leasing. He has a special interest in Plain English, and is a member of the Western Australian Law Society’s Property Law, General Conditions for the Sale of Land and Clear Writing Committees. He is also a member of the Professional Conduct Rules Ad Hoc Committee.
